Directors

Richard Poel
Richard has spent over 11 years in the area of content delivery, and having worked as a consultant to numerous Forture 500 organisations over the last decade is now a renowned expert in streaming media. In 1997, Richard delivered one of the first live conference webcasts on behalf of Networld and InterOp in London, and in 1998 was instrumental in delivering the first European IPTV service over satellite for GE. In 1999, Richard became the IT Director for the first commercial IPTV-over-satellite service provider, and set up Encoded Media with his business partners Philip Wand and Tom Sillence in 2003.

Tom Sillence
After graduating with a first class Computer Science degree from Cambridge University in 2001, Tom Sillence went straight into the field of streaming media. He was soon leading a team that brought one of the first practical secure multicast file transfer products to market, and since that time has built up unique skills and experience. Known for his expertise across a wide range of technologies, Tom continues to keep Encoded Media at the cutting edge of video software development with his enthusiasm for solutions that change people's lives.

Philip Wand
Philip is a 20-year veteran of the industry, having been the founder shareholder of two successful technology businesses and the mastermind behind some of the first IP networking tools for Windows. He was a leading web developer, a pioneer of e-commerce, and throughout the 1990s acted as consultant to a number of blue-chip companies including Computacenter and Railtrack. He created one of the more widely-used IPTV products in the corporate sector, and in his spare time is a technology columnist for consumer IT publications throughout the UK and Europe. Encoded Media was founded in 2003 together with Richard Poel and Tom Sillence.
